2024 Aluminum Alloy
Introduced in 1931, alloy 2024 was the first Al-Cu-Mg alloy to have a yield strength approaching 50,000-psi. With its good fatigue resistance, especially in thick plate forms, aluminum alloy 2024 T351 continues to be utilized for many aerospace structural components. -
6061 Aluminum Alloy
Very good corrosion resistance, excellent weldablity, machinability and a strength level similar to mild steel makes 6061 a popular general-purpose alloy. Typical end uses are general tool and jig plate, electronics, aircraft landing mats, storage tanks, highway signs and consumer products. -
7075 Aluminum Alloy
Alloy 7075 was introduced in 1943, and it has been the most popular 7XXX series alloy within the aerospace industry ever since. Although newer 7XXX alloys have since been developed with improved specific properties, alloy 7075 T651 remains the baseline with a good balance of properties required for aerospace and other applications where a combination of high strength, moderate toughness, corrosion resistance and light weight are required.
