6061 T651 temper is a popular general-purpose alloy due to its good corrosion resistance, excellent weldability, machinability, and a strength level similar to mild steel. 6061 has a lower cost than most other higher strength aerospace aluminum alloys, and has many uses including general tooling and jig plate, electronics, non-structural aircraft parts, storage tanks, and consumer products.
Our 6061 T651 aluminum plate has an unpolished (mill) surface and a standard tolerance, and meets ASTM B209 and/or AMS-QQ-A-250/11 and AMS-4027 specifications. This aluminum has a T651 temper, meaning it has been heat treated for increased strength and stretched to relieve stress.
