Good corrosion resistance, excellent weldability, machinability, and a strength level similar to mild steel makes 6061 T651 temper a popular general-purpose alloy. 6061 has a lower cost than most other higher strength aerospace aluminum alloys. 6061 has many uses including general tooling and jig plate, electronics, non-structural aircraft parts, storage tanks, and consumer products.
Our 6061 aluminum bar has an unpolished (mill) surface. Our extruded bar meets AMS-QQ-A-200/8, AMS-4150 or AMS-4173, and/or ASTM B221 specifications, while our cold finish bar is certified to AMS-QQ-A-225/8, AMS-4117, and/or ASTM B211. We also cut “custom bar” from plate, with mill test reports per AMS-QQ-A-250/11, AMS-4027, and/or ASTM B209.
